Twin Peaks Bike Park Free MTB in Niseko, Japan

Tap to interact

Japan's largest free-to-use bike park

Twin Peaks Bike Park is where Niseko rides in summer. Tucked into the volcanic forest above Hirafu, looking across to Mount Yotei, it offers over 17km of professionally built singletrack across more than 20 trails. The mix runs from gentle, family-friendly green flow to expert double-black tech, every trail signposted, mapped, and rated to international IMBA standards.

That free-access model is what makes Twin Peaks unique in Japan. There's no membership card, no booking, no orientation: show up, pedal up, ride. Most managed mountain bike trails in the country sit behind paid memberships, scheduled-only opening days, or guided-tour-only access. Twin Peaks is the country's largest free-access, nonprofit-built trail network, open to anyone, any day of the season.

The park was designed and built in partnership with Allegra, the Swiss trail-building firm behind some of the best-known parks in Europe and Asia. Construction began in 2022; the park opened to the public in 2023 with 14.2km of trail. Two seasons on, the network has expanded to 17km+ and welcomed over 11,500 riders in 2025. Every metre of trail you'll roll has been paid for by a sponsor or community partner, and the names on the trail signposts are the businesses, individuals, and brands that funded the dirt to be shaped.

Twin Peaks is pedal-access only. There are no lifts and no shuttle service: the climbs are graded and well-built, so the pedal up is part of the ride. Expect machine-built flow with rollable jumps, berms, and progression-friendly features; fast-rolling forest singletrack; technical rock and root sections on the steeper grades; and exposed lookouts where the volcanic skyline opens up. Most trails are bike-specific and one-way; a few are multi-use and shared with hikers. Full trail details, current conditions, and difficulty grades are on the map and table below.

The bike park is free for general use. Businesses operating inside the park to provide instruction, tours, or other commercial services must first contact NAMBA. See the commercial pass page for details.
