Event Participation Terms
By registering for or attending a NAMBA event, you agree to the terms on this page. If a participant is under 18, the parent or legal guardian signing up accepts these terms on the participant's behalf.
Acknowledgement and Conduct
- In the event of earthquakes, natural disasters, heavy snowfall, incidents, accidents, epidemics, or similar circumstances causing event reduction, cancellation, or determining refund availability, amount, and notification methods, the organiser will make decisions on a case-by-case basis and at their sole discretion.
- I confirm that I am in good health, with no heart conditions, illnesses, or other concerns, and that I will participate in the event after considering my well-being and making adequate preparations. I understand that I am responsible for any injuries, accidents, losses, or other incidents that may occur during the event.
- If the organiser determines that the event's continuation is hindered during its course, I will promptly comply with the organiser's cancellation instructions. I will also follow all safety and operational instructions provided by the organiser.
- I agree to receive necessary medical treatment if any injuries or illnesses occur during the event. I will not hold the organiser accountable for the method or outcomes of such treatment.
- I waive the organiser's responsibility for accidents, losses, injuries, or other incidents that may occur during the event and will not make claims for damages or compensation.
- I acknowledge that compensation for accidents or injuries during the event will be within the scope of the insurance coverage obtained by the organiser.
- I will provide accurate information about my age, gender, and other details, and I will not allow proxy participation by others. If false information is discovered or proxy participation is detected, I understand that my participation may be cancelled and I may be disqualified from future events. The organiser will not bear any responsibility for false information or proxy participants.
- As the event may take place on public roads, trails, ski resorts, or other public and private facilities, I will comply with traffic regulations and all rules, instructions, and guidelines set by the organiser. I will ensure safety and health management on my part and immediately report to the organiser if any health issues arise.
- I will adhere to the regulations of the Road Traffic Act. I take full responsibility for the maintenance and safety inspection of my bicycle, and I will wear a helmet for head protection.
- In the case of accidents caused by my own actions, or causing damage to third parties, I will promptly fulfil my liability for compensation. I will not hold the organiser responsible for any damage to my bicycle.
- In the event of cancellation due to reasons beyond the organiser's control, such as worsening weather conditions, I will not hold the organiser responsible. I will not claim reimbursement for participation fees, transportation costs, fees, or other expenses incurred for the event. The same applies for cancellations or non-participation on the event day.
Participants under 18
Where a participant is under 18 years old, their parent or legal guardian must sign up on their behalf. By doing so, the parent or guardian:
- Confirms they are the participant's parent or legal guardian and have authority to accept these terms for them.
- Confirms the child is in good health, free from heart conditions or other concerns, and adequately prepared for the event, and accepts responsibility for the child's well-being during it.
- Confirms the child has the equipment and skills appropriate to the event.
- Where the event involves a bicycle: takes full responsibility for the maintenance and safety inspection of the child's bike, and ensures the child wears a helmet at all times.
- Consents to the child receiving necessary medical treatment if injury or illness occurs during the event, and does not hold the organiser accountable for the method or outcome.
- Accepts liability for any damage the child causes to a third party or their property.
- Understands that compensation for accidents or injuries is limited to the organiser's insurance, and is strongly encouraged to hold personal event or recreation accident insurance for the child.
- Understands that a responsible adult is expected to remain with younger or less experienced children for the duration of the event, unless the event format specifies otherwise.
- Accepts the image release in "Photos, Video, and Image Use" below on the child's behalf.
Insurance
Please ensure you have personal event insurance or recreation accident insurance coverage before participating.
Photos, Video, and Image Use
NAMBA regularly photographs and films our events. We use these images to promote the sport, document the community, and support our work as a nonprofit. By attending, you agree that:
- NAMBA (and any event partners credited on the specific event page) may use photographs and video taken at the event in our website, social media, newsletters, press releases, brochures, and other media.
- You waive any claim to monetary compensation for such use.
- No restriction is placed on the region or duration of use.
- If a participant is under 18, this image release covers them and is accepted by the parent or legal guardian signing up.
Opting out of photos
If you do not want yourself or your child to appear in published NAMBA media, please:
- Email events@namba.ngo before the event, including the event name and the names of anyone opting out, or
- Let event staff know at check-in.
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure those who opt out are not featured in published material. Incidental background shots in crowd photos may still occur, but identifiable images will not be used without consent. If a photo of you or your child has already been published and you would like it removed, email events@namba.ngo and we will take it down.
Personal Information
Information you provide when signing up will be handled according to NAMBA's Privacy Policy. By signing up you consent to NAMBA processing this information for the purposes of running the event, communicating with you, keeping you safe, and meeting our legal obligations.
